LEYLINE

A private, automatic diary of where you’ve been.

Developed by me under Lithobrake Studios.

Leyline keeps track of your day in the background. It takes the raw GPS and motion data from your iPhone and turns it into a timeline you can actually read: the places you visited, the trips in between, and how you got there.

No account, no analytics, no ads.

I wanted it to feel calm, so it’s dark-first, easy to read and designed to go easy on your battery.

On this project, I worked on product, design and development.

Leyline is in private beta on TestFlight (invite only).

FEATURES

Automatic recording

No buttons: visits and trips show up by themselves, with walking, cycling, driving and the train told apart.

A timeline you can correct

Every day gets a timeline. Move a visit, merge places or change times when something’s off.

A lifetime heatmap

Everywhere you’ve been, by month, year or all time.

Stats

Distance, moving time and places, plus a streamgraph of how you moved and a calendar heatmap.

Private by design

No account and no analytics. Exports and bug reports only happen when you choose to send them.

Built with

SwiftUI and a Swift package (LeylineKit) for tracking, the timeline and storage. On-device SQLite, Core Location, Core Motion and MapKit. A small Cloudflare Worker relays opt-in bug reports.
